1. Bdsm images — or any images — can’t be hate content. Unless you know what was going on in the mind of the photographer when the image was created. 

2. Even if it were hate content, what’s wrong with hate? Hate is an important, valuable human emotion. Don’t confuse hate with criminal behavior. They are not nearly the same thing.

3. You want hate? Go to blogs with a lot of political opinion. I am amused to no end the frothing people get into over politics. This country swings back and forth between  Democrat and Republican. So neither side can be evil, as they are often portrayed. If so, half the nation is evil. Look around. Are half the people you know evil? People who vilify one side or the other are so extreme in their … ah … hatred … of the other side. It’s laughable. (Then again, I’m not into politics at all. I’ve never voted. Instead, I own 2 guns.)

4. Again, what’s wrong with hate? Why does Tumblr care about hate? It’s natural to hate. It’s an evolutionary survival trait humans need. What Tumblr should shut down are those blogs that load the next page automatically. I hate those fuckers. They crash my iPad browser. (I hate all iPad browsers. Still not a good one yet.)

5. You want to know what real hate content is? Posts or profiles that say, “I hate …” I see those often. Like, “I’m Emma. 16. Vegan. I hate religion. This blog is transgender friendly.” Hope Emma never meets a priest with great tits and a big dick. If Tumblr wants to get rid of hate content, don’t complicate it. Close blogs that say, “I hate so and so.” Unless … maybe … “hate” is just a code word Tumblr’s using for something else. BTW: Hating religion. That’s like wishing the ocean wasn’t so wet.

6. That all said, Tumblr owns Tumblr. They’re just letting you use it. It’s not censorship if I invite you to my house and tell you not to rearrange my furniture. The key cliche here isn’t “Information wants to be free.” It’s “If you’re not the customer, you’re the product.” If you don’t like Tumblr’s rules — as arbitrary as this “hate” one seems — you can always buy a domain and post anything legal you want.
